Intergraph® CADWorx® & Analysis University Express visits Madrid, Spain, Milan, Italy and Leiden, the Netherlands in October 2015. Insider Blog met Chris Parkin, Senior Application Engineer at Intergraph CADWorx to get a sneak peak of the content of the upcoming CAU Express.
Insider Blog: At CAU Express you will be presenting on the topic of Skillful Techniques for Maximizing CADWorx Productivity – could you give us a sneak peak of your presentation?
Chris Parkin: During this presentation, we will cover multiple different modelling and editing methods that can assist you in increasing your efficiency with CADWorx. These include major features, such as linking Plant models to P&IDs, as well as more minor features. We always include time for users’ questions as well as discussion, so that the attendants can share their own techniques and best practices.
IB: As a Senior Application Engineering with over 8 years of experience with CADWorx – what are your favorite CADWorx features? What makes the software so unique?
CP: I love the range of tools in CADWorx! If you need to model a steel frame, you can do it in a few minutes; if you need to design a pipe support, you can do it in a few minutes; if you need to model a pump, you can do it in a few minutes. CADWorx just makes everything quick and easy, even adding new components to a spec requires no real effort.
IB: Are there any upcoming / recent updates to CADWorx?
CP: CADWorx 2016 will be available very shortly, which includes quite a few updates. I think most users will love improved new pipe support modeler, which allows you to create a pipe support from more than one custom component. It also allows the addition of structural steel to the pipe support, as well as adjustments to the support connection points. This makes it very easy to model your pipe supports in CADWorx!
IB: Would you have any tips for the CAU Express attendees – other presentations they should definitely see?
CP: We have a session covering the new pipe support modeler, so you can get a preview of this feature and receive guidance on maximizing your efficiency as soon as you upgrade to CADWorx 2016 – it’s a great opportunity to learn about the new functionality!
IB: What are you personally looking forward to during the event?
CP: I am looking forward to hearing how users are implementing and using CADWorx on real-life projects. Existing and experienced users always find innovative ways of using the software, which we can all learn from!
