And it Just Gets Better...
COADE would like to thank each and every one of you that decided, in these uncertain times, to attend the COADE User Conference 2009, held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. Some attendees were very sad it was all over and even left distressed calls for help and solace on our discussion forum :-)
The conference was well attended with 260 attendees representing over 120 companiesfrom 24 countries, including; Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and of course, the United States, where 22 states (including the Great State of Texas :-) were represented.
The first event, unlike many conferences it was not the keynote but the Sunday afternoon golf tournament that kicked it off. The golf tournament was sponsored by ECAD, Inc. and held at the Woodforest Golf Club, north of The Woodlands. What a great course with attentive and professional staff.
The keynote was delivered in two parts, the first part was delivered by Tom Van Laan and his team showing (live) the integration between COADE's plant design and engineering solutions (details here: COADE Integration) and the second part by guitar virtuoso and funny man Mike Rayburn, who challenged our self limitations by encouraging us to ask 'Why not...?' and What if...?' (CUC2009 speaker info).
The classes were well received and as one attendee said "You guys have got the who's who of stress analysis lecturing." Well that may have been true, but one thing is certain, the level of plant design and engineering instruction and courses covered were to a very high level.
At this event we held the first CADWorx Plant Professional certification tests which was designed to give an accurate indication of the depth of knowledge of those tested. Some failed, many passed and notably two scored 100% - David Wolfe and Rod Abbott. Well done! On passing the advanced test one person was heard to say, "Good, now I get to keep my job," now that's pressure!
Another thing that was notable was the relevancy of the event sponsors that displayed and demonstrated their products and services at this event.
A shout must go out to IT Exchange Group who manged our event with wonderful attention to detail and always ensured that attendees received the best service and care. Our thanks to Dana, Vicki and their staff.
So are we going to do it all again? Oh yes!
