Webinar, August 6th, 12:00pm CST: Automatically Updating Isometric Title blocks and Attributes

CADWorx Plant Professional and PLANTMO team up to offer a very effective way to push information from a CADWorx project database to ISOGEN title blocks. This session will demonstrate how to setup and use CADWorx Plant, Isogen, and PLANTMO to automate and manage title block information, filenames, and drawing numbers. PLANTMO functions can automatically change isometric title block information and drawing numbers based upon CADWorx project data. This includes the Attributes in the title block. In addition, designers can open, move, delete and rename the isometric drawing files they create. Finally, some additional functions of PLANTMO will be demonstrated in coordination with CADWorx Plant including extended Bill of Material filtering, Material Take-Offs as well as a new Weld Count Estimate without the need of Weld Mark insertion.

ACHEMA 2009 - A Day in the Life - Start > Middle > End

ACHEMA 2009 was the second time that COADE had exclusively sponsored this event. Taking place only once every three years ACHEMA is by far the largest engineering show in Europe

The show lasted for five days and attracted over 173,000 visitors from all over the world. COADE were one of over 3,750 exhibitors in the exhibition halls that spread over an area of 1,442,350 sq.ft (134,000 m²). What impressed us was the quantity of visitors to our booth who were looking for ways to be more efficient and therefore more effective in their work. Everyone acknowledged that a recession was on, but the vast majority saw this as an opportunity separate themselves from the pack by delivering more value to their clients.

For ACHEMA 2009, show organizers released figures showing that 46.6 % of the exhibitors and 25 % of the visitors came from outside Germany. Of the 400+ visitors to our booth we estimate that 50% of them were from outside of Germany, with one of the biggest contingents coming from India.

Many of our Indian visitors were plant and vessel fabricators who showed great interest in PV Elite for pressure vessel and heat exchanger analysis, and in our new product PV Fabricator, for the automated production of pressure vessel deliverables such as layouts, details, nozzle schedules, bills of materials, name plates etc.

COADE's aim has always been to produce and deliver plant design and engineering solutions that work together in the most cohesive and integrated way possible. It  was therefore encouraging to see that the ease of use,  power, flexibility and low cost of ownership of COADE's other offerings (CADWorx, CAESAR II and TANK) also resonated well with attendees.

Chemical Engineering Progress Article on Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's)

In its monthly magazine, Chemical Engineering Progress, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) runs an article series called 'Back to Basics'. The aim of these articles is to provide graduate and new engineers with information on engineering terms, procedures and best practices. These articles are written to also provide more experienced engineers with information, at a basic level, of new technologies and practices.

In this article, published in May, 2009, COADE was asked to develop an article highlighting the difference between various types of process flow sheets. The article entitled Designing a Process Sheet outlines the unique purpose and requirements of the Block Flow Diagram (BFD); the Process Flow Diagram (PFD); and the Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID).
